DAY 2

Day 2: The True Gospel

As Paul wrote, in Galatians 1:6, the Galatians were turning to a different gospel. Eugene Peterson’s translation in The Message, words Galatians 1:6, “how easily you have turned traitor to him who called you by the grace of Christ.” While the Galatians were still embracing a message related to Jesus, the message was distorted, different from the true Gospel they had heard from Paul. We Christians use the phrase, “the gospel” a lot - it rolls off the tongue, but how would you explain it, if someone were to ask you what “the gospel” means?

Write out how you would explain the Gospel.

Now take time to read, and write out 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

What words stand out to you in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 as you think about the idea of “the gospel?”

Gospel: The gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled the law, sacrificially died for our sins, physically rose from the dead, to permanently reconcile His people to a holy God through repentance of sin and faith in Him.The gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled the law, sacrificially died for our sins, physically rose from the dead, to permanently reconcile His people to a holy God through repentance of sin and faith in Him.

Leader Challenge: Text your group encouraging them to write out their explanation of the Gospel. Let students know that if they have any questions about the Gospel that you would love to have conversations with them - these conversations could give way to salvation for some students. Text one student asking them how they would explain the Gospel.
