DAY 3

Day 3: Danger of Distortion

Read Galatians 1:7 -9. Paul intended for his listeners to understand with startling clarity that what they’d received from him was not a gospel but THE Gospel. And this Gospel was not the truth because he, Paul, had preached it. This gospel was the truth because the risen Christ, the Son of God, had given it. If Paul circled back around someday with a different twist on the gospel, he wanted them to know that he, too, should be rejected.

DEEPER DIVE: To get the Gospel right was the centerpoint of Paul’s faith. The original language shows us that Paul meant business when he was writing this letter. Look at v. 9. Paul’s emphasis can often be overlooked and just read flippantly.  The mechanism of salvation is not a minor issue! Paul legit says, if anyone messes with the message let them be cursed. But the greek word here literally means: let them experience God’s wrath and let them go to hell…oof… yeah, sounds pretty serious.

In what ways are you seeing the Gospel distorted in 2025?

As a student, how can you be careful to avoid distorted Gospel?

Leader Challenge: Take some time today to pray for your students. Ask God to give them wisdom as they navigate all sorts of messages and “gospels” coming their way. Ask God to give clarity on what it means to live in light of the true Gospel. Text one student today letting them know that you are praying for them.
