DAY 3

Day 3: Intimacy with God

“Abba” is an Aramaic word transliterated in more translations because no one knows what it means but it is likely a term of endearment. Some have suggested translating it as “Daddy” or “Papa,” but others think those terms miss the mark. In the New Testament, “Abba” occurs three times (Galatians 4:7, Romans 8:15, Mark 14:36… take a second to read each of these verses), each instance followed by the Greek word for “Father.”

Carefully read Mark 14:32-28. Instead of trying to figure out what Abba means - pay attention to the context that Jesus uses “Abba” in. How would you describe the context? How does Jesus demonstrate intimacy with the Father?

How can you pursue intimacy with God?

Leader Challenge: Ask students how they are wanting to pursue intimacy with God? Lead the way by committing to take one step to grow in your intimacy with God.
